HUBBARD LAKE
With a population of over 1000, Hubbard Lake City is a small rural community dedicated to family life, and to the enjoyment of the outdoors.
In the mid 1800’s this area was first a strategic military location for Indians and soon became an important lumbering area. It also helped regulate the flow of timber that came from Lake Huron and Alpena. Its natural striking beauty, and its abundance of wildlife soon prompted a popular resort to be built on the south side.
Since that time it is now an important resort area, and has become a thriving town, a welcoming retirement spot and a real estate investment dream.
One mile north of Hubbard Lake, its superb location makes for a very special area to live in.
Some fine resorts, miles of trails, canoeing, kayaking and of course unending fishing possibilities make Hubbard Lake a favorite spot for sportsmen. The lake is home tomany fish species such as northern pike, the rock bass, the yellow perch, the pumpkinseed sunfish, the bluegills, the small & large mouth bass, and the walleye and whitefish.
If you prefer golfing , White Pine national Golf Course, offers an 18 hole course in the midst of many wooded acres.
The community keeps connected by holding many events and festivals that celebrate the different seasons.
Manjidiwin Days are held in late June as a celebration that gathers the people, which is the Indian translation of Manjidiwin.The triathlon and baseball tournaments provide the excitement while dining and dancing ease out the efforts of the day.Close by, in Ossineke, everyone gathers again for the Old Fashion Days festival in early August.
Dedication to education has been what the Hubbard Lake Elementary School has been all about since it opened its doors in 1959.Its missionhas been consistenly“ to provide an environment that supports individual learning styles and encourages students to become lifelong learners”. Then, less than twenty miles away, Alpena provides great level highschools and a superb college.

Hubbard Lake City is a small community (close to 1000) that lays within Alpena County’s Ossineke Township and is one mile north of the largest lake in Northeastern Michigan. The closest towns are: Lost Lake Wood, (9.4miles), Ossineke ( 10.5 miles),
